Techwheel published the maths on our three years of going electric
Techwheel is an Australian site that puts up real running costs for EVs, solar and home batteries, run by Mahmudur Rahman, a Sydney data scientist. He asked whether he could turn our blog into a case study, then read the archive rather than taking our word for anything.
He traces the whole arc: selling up on the Central Coast in December 2022, a year of road tripping, settling in Emerald, then getting off gas one appliance at a time. About 145,000 km driven in EVs along the way.
He also runs a comparison we never have. Our 137,000 Australian kilometres in a petrol car at 8 L/100 km would have burned roughly 11,000 litres, which he puts at about $22,000 at the pump. That is before servicing.
