What we collect, and when

When you read the site

When you leave a comment

The comment form asks for:

We log the IP address of comment submissions for rate-limiting and spam-prevention. IPs are not displayed publicly and are pruned after 30 days.

When you sign in with Facebook

If you choose the "Sign in with Facebook" option on the comment form, Meta sends us your public Facebook user id, display name, profile picture URL, and the email address registered to your Facebook account. We use these only to associate your comment with your identity and to display your name and avatar beside it. We don't post to your Facebook account, message your friends, or ask for any other permission.

Facebook comments we imported

Many of the comments on this site originated as public comments on the Tesla Tripping Facebook page between 2022 and the present. We have mirrored them here so that the discussion isn't lost if Facebook deprecates the page or changes its API. For each imported comment we store:

If you'd like a comment of yours attributed differently, hidden, or removed, email the address above and we'll fix it within a few days.

What we don't do

Your rights

You can:

We try to behave consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). This site is run on a personal basis and is below the legislative thresholds that apply to commercial operators, but the spirit of the legislation is what we aim for.

Children

The site is intended for a general audience. We don't knowingly accept comments or sign-ins from children under thirteen. If we become aware that we hold data from a child, we'll delete it immediately.

Changes

We may update this page if the way the site works changes (for example, if we add another sign-in provider). The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the current version. Significant changes will be flagged on the home page.
