Cessnock dinner, then Mum's boiled-egg breakfast

Fully Charged + Off-Grid Living 2025

We pulled into Cessnock late yesterday afternoon, and stayed last night at the Potters Hunter Valley Hotel. Great salad bowl dinner options. This morning we popped in on Mum for breakfast. She made us boiled eggs, which we loved.

Charging

Ideally we would have charged overnight at our accommodation, but there wasn’t a suitable power outlet to do so. So, we stopped with 6% remaining, on our way north at the Tesla Superchargers in Heatherbrae. We knew to grab a coffee before arriving here. Not a bad location, but it’s a kilometre away from the more interesting stop on the other side of the road, with more facilities. The PlugShare app shows more Tesla Superchargers as ”coming soon” there, but it’s been that way for a long time.

    1. Craig Boyle Thanks! I didn’t realise they were so close to Heatherbrae. We’ll have to try them next time.

  2. FYI - if you are up this way again, there is a single charger at Vacy near the Farmers Hotel and 4 chargers in Dungog near the information centre. Not fast chargers!

    1. Denise Dolan: Thank you. Good to know about those destination chargers. But, those would have only worked for us if we were staying at those sites for a few hours.

      1. Tesla Tripping - of course. I think that is what the local council hopes you will do!

      2. Denise Dolan Ah, true. Good strategy. I normally look out for destination chargers and do stay a while. But this was a whirlwind visit.
