Checking out the Farizon electric van, decked out as a camper. Also the popular BYD Shark electric ute (plus hybrid range extender), and some towing options. At Everything Electric Melbourne.

    1. Kylie Gilroy Ha ha! Yes, I generally dislike hybrid and plug in hybrid cars. However, the BYD Shark has a decent sized battery range, and is electric only drive train. It has a backup petrol generator, which might never kick in if you keep it charged.

  3. Electric camper would be awesome.
I traveled in a camper for a few weeks around NZ and Europe, I didn’t drive more than 200km a day.

  4. Well no one will be towing caravans anywhere with an electric 🤦. Won't even make it to the next charger station in WA's network 200km apart

  5. The range of the Farizon isn't sufficient for touring in Australia. Best suited to epic trips around suburban Sydney or Melbourne.

When they come up with a van that has a real world highway range of over 400km (500km would be better), then it would become viable. If the price was right.

  6. I recently returned from a NZ trip.
Saw a BYD with a large caravan parked up at Reefton. Not sure if it had come over the Lewis Pass. Most likely from the Westcoast. Travelling distances are significantly shorter in NZ but also in places significantly more challenging vertically.
