New Italy is new for us

We’ve passed the turn off to New Italy several times over the years, on our trips up and down the east coast of Australia. Great to see that the signage now shows EV charging.
We finally pulled in there today for a rest stop. It’s a beautiful place, with picnic tables, trees, grass, toilet block, cafe, gift shop, museum, and a bank of v4 Tesla superchargers. It offers overnight stops (in vehicle), for $15 per night. We couldn’t stay long, since Francis's migraine started to kick in. We might drop by next time for lunch.
Back in Evan’s Head, I used the last of our water for drinking and topping up the window washing fluid, since the screen had started warning that we were getting low. I figured we’d restock in New Italy. Unfortunately, there is no drinkable water available, just tank water. I don’t like travelling without any water, so I bought a bottle of bottled water, for the first time in years. Lesson learned.
Charging
Following our usual guide of “charge while parked anyway”, we plugged into the Tesla Superchargers on site. The large canopy gives welcome shade, and turns the suns ray into power for the cars, with its covering of solar panels. No fumes. No trucking and shipping of fuel from war torn countries. Just sun to roof to car. The car was fully charged after we had used the amenities.
We didn’t need to charge here. We just need to charge somewhere between Byron Bay and Guyra, since Guyra currently lacks EV chargers. The Tesla’s navigation had earlier suggested we go back north to charge in Knockrow, which was unnecessary and odd. It’s usually clever at picking charging stops en route, so I can’t explain this fail. I might have caused it by entering look out stops in the wrong order. In any case, it was easy to just tap the “show the EV chargers” button on the map and tap “New Italy” along our route.
