First time on an Evie 10-minute fast charger

10 minute fast charge to 80% at Evie Networks charger next to a Puma Energy petrol station. This was our first time using one of these. Costs twice as much (60c/kWh) as the RACQ Chargefox chargers (30c/kWh) but they are about twice as fast for us (100kW vs 50kW, and theoretical max speed of 350kW). Also the CCS2 charger is on the right instead of left. One of the charging stations was in maintenance, but at least they had two, unlike the competitor. It took four attempts at plugging in for the charger to work. Francis seems to be more successful at this than me.

Edit: Note the Tesla message about battery temperature. We don't currently have a way to tell the Tesla car to precondition the battery for a third party fast charger - only for Tesla fast chargers, which don't currently exist up here.

    It's brilliant isn't it, only SC around these parts. The Tesla can't take the full 350kW, it's around 111Kw still really good.

      Kylie Gilroy if you want to see max charging speeds, you can tell the car to navigate to a supercharger to preheat the battery. Should give you a decent increase in charging performance. Hopefully Tesla soon updates the cars to allow preheating for non-supercharger stops.

        Nornallly that would work, but Superchargers aren't available in North Qld or even south Qld once you go north of Gympie. That will change in Q1 and Q2 2023.

      Kylie Gilroy I don't think that would work for this location as the nearest Tesla supercharger would be Gympie, probably 1000kms away. Navigation wouldn't be able to route beyond 400km. I believe more superchargers are planned for QLD but who knows when...

        Ah, so there are actual Tesla superchargers up there ? Apologies for the confusion. I tried to route from Gold Coast to Cairns and it failed, I could only see the Gympie SC. Hopefully the gaps will be closed soon(ish)

        We should avoid confusion by only calling Tesla DC chargers Superchargers and non Tesla Dc chargers fast chargers.         No Tesla Superchargers north of Gympie at the moment. Rockhampton and Mackay are scheduled to get one on Q1 2023, Miriam Vale and Childers Q2 2023.

      That took us from about 40% to 85%, I think.

        Tesla Tripping plus your time, so if you earn $60/hr Approx. $17 for your time, if it’s a car full of politicians it probably costs the public purse around $200 to recharge an EV

        We time the charging to be when we have to stop for other reasons anyway, such as toilet stop, eating, exploring, trip planning or most commonly sleeping (over night), so we generally don’t really lose any time.

    The QESH ($0.30) chargers, with billing managed by Chargefox, are Qld Govt owned hence less commercial pricing but conveniently located. 👍
