Indian dinner in Yass, then a Murrumbateman motel

Queensland Coast 2023

Delicious veg Indian for dinner last night at Spice Affair in Yass. The waitress warned us against the local tap water.

We stayed overnight at Abode, Murrumbateman motel, just south east of Yass. Nice place. Weird layout, having to take your bags through reception at one end of the building, down a corridor back through the building to your room. They would do better to connect the path to the room’s patio. We just stepped over the garden to get in and out after checking in.

We made breakfast of toast with bananas and peanut butter. Reception sells coffee and they were kind enough to use our lactose free milk in Fran’s cappuccino.

Charging

We asked if we could plug in our EV and they kindly upgraded us to a room with a sliding patio door facing the car park. It worked, and gave us full charge by the morning. Obviously not ideal to drape an extension cord across the garden and path. But there’s something elegant and simple about plugging in your car and phone together beside by your bed.

Permission given is a hit and miss.
    I haven’t had a permission given yet.

    1. Dan PT Oh, really? 😞 I think we’ve only had one or two “no”s, but several that just didn’t have a handy power point.

Hi Mark? Apology if I got your name wrong. Is it safe to plug in the extension and what sort of lead is up for the task? I'm thinking about future trips that I may need to do this.

    1. Huy Vu In our experience the extension cord works well, when needed. Make sure it’s heavy duty (which is thicker). Many recommend that the lead is rated to 15A, even though it will only take 10A due to the plugs. Make sure it is uncoiled. Check that the power point doesn’t get warm, indicating a fault, high resistance and fire risk. Tom

      2. Tesla Tripping I have a 10m lead with a 15A socket and 10A plug. The innards of a 10A outlet and a 15A outlet are the same aside from the larger earth pin. Same advise as yours re check outlet and don't run the kettle at the same time. Lead is built with 4mm2 but 2.5mm2 would be a lot less effort as plugs really are not designed for cable this large

    2. Huy Vu Go to a caravan accessories shop, they have an adapter with a circuit breaker, this allows a 15 amp lead to be used on a 10 amp outlet.
